Harriete Estel Berman uses post consumer, recycled materials to construct artwork ranging from jewelry and teacups to large sculptures of social commentary. She uses multiple frames fabricated from recycled tin cans and vintage steel dollhouses. The steel is cut, folded, and riveted together. Berman also works in silver repair and restoration. A Peninsula resident, Berman’s artwork has shown throughout the United States, Europe, and Africa. Her work is included in the permanent collections of 16 museums including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Fine Arts.
